Research Engineer (Fintech)

Location: New York City, United States

Salary: $175,000–$225,000 annual base salary, plus an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Implement research studies, simulate trading strategies, and develop algorithms for financial markets.
• Work with traders and portfolio managers to understand problem spaces and build performant, ergonomic, and extensible engineering solutions.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to accelerate the transition from strategy prototypes to production deployment.
• Evaluate new technologies and continuously improve the technology stack.
• Maintain nimble, extensible codebases and support high-impact customer problems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of production experience with Python.
• Strong understanding of quantitative finance and mathematics.
• Experience with Linux-based, large-scale, concurrent, high-throughput, and low-latency software systems.
• Experience scoping and delivering production systems directly with customers in fast-moving and ambiguous environments.
• Clear communication and strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with stakeholders and engineers.

Nice to have

• Experience with C, C++, Rust, or Zig.
• Experience with functional programming.
