Space Embedded Software Engineer, High Reliability Systems (C++)

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. and qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR requirements.

Salary: $131,000–$184,000 annually, plus potential stock options.

Company

Develops commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing payloads, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses.

What you will do

• Develop reliable firmware controlling spacecraft, satellite buses, and reentry capsules throughout complete missions.
• Own software design, development, testing, integration, verification, and validation.
• Capture requirements and perform initial design trade studies for open-ended technical problems.
• Build structured bare-metal, RTOS, and Linux-based software for embedded processors in C++.
• Develop highly reliable and available flight software systems.
• Support software quality and performance through testing and V&V techniques.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, or equivalent technical experience in safety-critical software.
• 3+ years of experience developing spacecraft or similar safety-critical software.
• Experience developing and testing real-time embedded hardware and software systems.
• Professional C++ development experience and strong understanding of C++ language concepts.
• U.S. work authorization and U.S. person status required for access to export-controlled technology.

Nice to have

• Experience with safety-critical software, particularly in aerospace.
• Experience with Python or Rust.
• Strong knowledge of computer architecture, operating systems, data structures, and computer networking.
