Senior COPV Engineer (Aerospace)

Hiring range: $132,000–$198,000 USD annually

hirify.global develops launch vehicles, including the reusable Terran R rocket, to deliver customer payloads to orbit.

What you will do

• Develop the gas-storage architecture and long-term strategy for the Terran R reusable launch vehicle.
• Partner with vendors on the design and analysis of composite overwrapped pressure vessels (COPVs).
• Collaborate with thermo-fluid engineers on vehicle gas-system design and operation.
• Establish COPV qualification and acceptance test campaigns, perform tests, and review data.
• Support COPV integration on the rocket and manage vendor selection, vetting, and relationships.
• Conduct trade studies and assess future COPV design and manufacturing plans.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in engineering or another technical discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant technical experience.
• Experience applying pressure-vessel engineering fundamentals.
• Experience with fluid and mechanical system design and operation.
• Ability to work on-site at the factory in Long Beach, California.

Nice to have

• Experience with COPVs or other composite structures.
• Experience in a creative, fast-paced development environment with substantial autonomy.
• Experience with CAD.
• Experience with launch-vehicle systems.
