TL;DR
Java Platform Performance Engineer (Performance Optimization) (Java, JVM, distributed systems): Improving the performance, scalability, and reliability of large-scale distributed backend systems with an accent on JVM tuning, profiling, middleware, and database optimization. Focus on diagnosing production bottlenecks, validating throughput and latency, and building internal tooling for performance testing, observability, and capacity planning.

What you will do
- Analyze and optimize large-scale Java applications across application, middleware, JVM, and infrastructure layers.
- Investigate production bottlenecks using profiling, tracing, heap analysis, thread analysis, code analysis, and GC tuning.
- Design and execute performance validation for distributed systems, covering throughput, latency, scalability, and stability.
- Optimize MySQL, Redis, Kafka, and other distributed middleware components.
- Build internal platforms and automation for performance testing, diagnostics, observability, and capacity planning.
- Partner with backend engineers and DevOps teams to improve reliability and production readiness.
Requirements
- Approximately 1–5 years of engineering experience; exceptional new graduates with strong Java fundamentals and hands-on project experience are welcome.
- Strong Java programming skills and understanding of JVM internals, multithreading, and concurrent programming.
- Experience diagnosing performance bottlenecks through heap analysis, thread analysis, profiling, and GC tuning.
- Familiarity with distributed systems, Spring Boot, microservices, and production troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with Kafka, Redis, RabbitMQ, or ZooKeeper, plus MySQL performance optimization and slow-query analysis.
- Experience with Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, and internal engineering platforms or developer tooling.
Nice to have
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code, including critical assessment of generated code for performance and correctness.
