Camera System Software Engineer (Android)

Location: Austin, Texas, United States of America; onsite role with no relocation offered.

Salary: $137,000–$202,000 annually, with additional bonus and/or equity opportunities for US candidates.

What you will do

• Design, develop, debug, and test platform software for complex Android camera systems.
• Work with video and audio compression codecs and related interfaces.
• Develop and integrate Linux kernel components, drivers, Android HAL, Binder, HIDL, AIDL, and robust communication protocols.
• Use software development, source control, compiler, and hardware debugging tools.
• Collaborate with internal and external development teams and participate in architecture discussions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent discipline.
• 6+ years of C/C++ development experience.
• 6+ years of experience with low-level Android code or Linux for camera systems.
• Experience developing Linux drivers and working in a Linux development environment.
• Knowledge of the Android framework and SDK on recent releases, preferably Android M or higher.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience bringing up the Linux kernel on ARM-based embedded systems.
• Image-processing experience.
• Experience with USB, Gadget, HDMI, video/audio, or Wi-Fi drivers and devices.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
