What you will do
- Lead technical and milestone design reviews for artificial-gravity, human-rated space station systems.
- Oversee qualification and test completeness for flight systems and support robust test campaigns.
- Evaluate design and operational changes, identify risks early, and protect technical integrity as systems evolve.
- Develop and maintain engineering standards, design guides, review templates, and reliability checklists.
- Track design maturity and compliance across station and vehicle architectures.
- Collaborate with configuration management and software teams to organize hardware updates, system data, and design decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in responsible engineering, design ownership, systems integration, test engineering, or reliability-focused development.
- Experience conducting design reviews, qualification reviews, or major change assessments.
- Strong communication, collaboration, diplomacy, and influencing skills.
- Must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing because the role involves access to U.S. export-controlled information.
- Willingness to work overtime or weekends during critical mission milestones.
Nice to have
- Experience in responsible engineering, systems engineering, Office of the Chief Engineer, or reliability engineering on complex aerospace systems.
- Hands-on experience designing, assembling, integrating, or testing hardware.
- Experience with spacecraft, aircraft, launch vehicles, or other mission- or safety-critical systems.
- Knowledge of fracture control, reliability methodologies, human-rated hardware standards, manufacturing processes, materials selection, and hardware qualification.
- Strong scripting and data analysis skills with Python, MATLAB, or Excel; familiarity with visualization tools such as Tableau.
