Software Engineering Lead

Location: On-site in Cairo, Egypt or Belgrade, Serbia

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers while supporting recruitment, hiring, and onboarding.
• Contribute regularly to production-facing code and guide the development of scalable enterprise-grade systems.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineering teams to prioritize, plan, and schedule work.
• Provide technical guidance on coding standards, best practices, architectural principles, and system design.
• Communicate project status, risks, and requirements while adapting to changing priorities.
• Support continuous learning, performance feedback, and professional growth across the team.

Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant engineering experience, including 5+ years of hands-on technical experience building scalable enterprise-grade systems.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Java, Python, and database management, including MySQL and Cassandra.
• Experience with high-volume solutions, queuing systems and message brokers such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, and SQS.
• Practical experience with cache technologies such as Memcached and Redis, AWS services, Oracle Cloud Services, Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration.
• Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Fluent English with excellent written, editing, and verbal communication skills; able to interface daily with offshore teams.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating with bidirectional messaging providers such as Meta and Apple Messages for Business.
• Experience with Push and Email systems.
• Experience with Drone CI, SonarQube, Cucumber, wrk, Locust, or JMeter.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Software, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
