Senior Mechanical Engineer (Cryogenics & Vacuum)

Location: Germany; preferred work locations are Hamburg or Siegen. Applicants must have the right to work in Germany.

hirify.global develops and operates full-stack quantum computers based on trapped-ion technology, combining laser-cooled ions with microwave control and tailored magnetic fields.

What you will do

• Develop and design innovative mechanical components and integrate them into trapped-ion quantum computer systems.
• Design thermal pathways and interfaces and track thermal budgets.
• Create SolidWorks 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings while managing CAD data, parts lists, and BOMs.
• Define manufacturing specifications, support supplier validation, and coordinate materials, methods, and requirements.
• Build and test mechanical prototypes, evaluate feasibility, and verify compliance with specifications.
• Coordinate with customers, suppliers, procurement, and multidisciplinary engineering teams while optimizing development processes.

Requirements

• BSc or MSc degree in mechanical engineering or a comparable field.
• 8+ years of experience in an engineering or R&D environment.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and experience designing bespoke machinery or systems.
• Experience with manufacturing processes and treatments for a broad range of materials beyond steel and aluminum.
• Experience with systematic product development processes and structured technical work.
• Business-fluent English and the right to work in Germany are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with ultra-high vacuum, optics, cryogenics, or pumped vacuum applications.
• Experience designing and manufacturing high-precision systems.
• Knowledge of mechanical tolerance analysis, industry standards, and thorough technical documentation.
• Experience with PDM, PLM, ERP product structures, or additional CAD packages.
• Knowledge of German.
