Staff Data Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; at least 3 days per week in the office

Salary: $131,600–$210,300 USD per year, with potential bonus and equity eligibility.

What you will do

• Clarify stakeholder requirements and translate business needs into architecture designs for data components and products.
• Design, implement, and maintain scalable data pipelines and large-scale batch and real-time data processing systems.
• Build automation for transforming, managing, deploying, accessing, and monitoring data processes.
• Write efficient, reusable, and maintainable code; participate in code reviews and deliver code to production.
• Own data products and pipelines end to end, including technical debt mitigation, troubleshooting, documentation, and software upgrades.
• Maintain data quality through governance, security, privacy, retention, testing, and regulatory compliance practices.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, 2 years with an advanced degree, 0 years with a PhD, or 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience designing data pipelines, large-scale processing jobs, and real-time systems using technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Kafka, Redis, NoSQL, and RDBMS.
• Experience writing, reviewing, and testing high-quality production code, including unit, integration, and end-to-end automated tests.
• Experience with CI/CD, containerization, orchestration, production monitoring, observability, and troubleshooting.
• Experience applying secure coding practices and complying with regulatory standards.
• Ability to work from the Austin office at least 3 days per week.

• Experience integrating AI or ML services into applications.
• Experience collecting and analyzing metrics to guide optimization.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and writing technical documentation.
