TL;DR
Senior Software Engineer, Autonomous Pilot Integration – Weapons (C++/Embedded Autonomy): Developing and integrating autonomy software for launched-effects platforms, from software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop testing through live flight tests and operational deployment, with an accent on autopilot integration, multi-agent coordination, and disconnected environments. Focus on solving complex hardware/software integration problems, debugging embedded systems, validating C2 interoperability, and delivering mission-ready systems for defense customers.

Location: On-site in Washington, DC; San Diego, California; Boston, Massachusetts; or Dallas, Texas. Travel of approximately 10–20% to offices, customer sites, training events, flight tests, and integration exercises is required.

Company

hirify.global develops autonomy solutions for launched-effects platforms operating in multi-agent fleets and disconnected or air-gapped environments for U.S. and international defense customers.

What you will do

  • Develop and integrate autonomy software for launched-effects platforms, including payload computer bring-up, autopilot integration, multi-agent coordination, and deployment to disconnected environments.
  • Own major features and subsystems from design through software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, vehicle-in-the-loop, live flight testing, and operational deployment.
  • Collaborate with autonomy, perception, feature, autopilot vendor, C2, and customer partner teams to deliver integrated mission capabilities.
  • Build, configure, and validate mission-ready systems for capability releases and fleet-scale deployments.
  • Debug autonomy software, payload computers, embedded systems, and platform interfaces using simulation, laboratory testing, and operational data.
  • Implement and validate C2 interfaces and support standards including UCI, OMS, MOSA, WOSA, and TAK/CoT.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Typically 5+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent advanced degree experience.
  • Strong proficiency in C++ and experience developing or integrating real-time or embedded systems.
  • Experience with Linux-based development, embedded systems, and complex hardware/software integration.
  • Experience supporting system integration, testing, or field events.
  • Ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.

Nice to have

  • Experience with launched effects, unmanned systems, or autonomous platforms.
  • Experience with PX4, ArduPilot, or comparable autopilot stacks.
  • Experience with multi-agent autonomy.
  • Experience with Python, Docker, CMake/Conan, or CI/CD.
  • Experience supporting military field exercises or defense customers.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time employee position.
  • Hands-on work spanning simulation, laboratory testing, hardware integration, and live operations.
  • Opportunities to support customer exercises, flight tests, operational deployments, and mission execution.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with engineering teams, vendors, and defense customers.
