Research Associate III – Bioanalytics (LC-MS)

Location: On-site in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States; limited travel between local research sites may be required.

Salary: $65,000–$91,667 per year.

What you will do

• Develop, optimize, qualify, and execute quantitative bioanalytical methods for drugs, metabolites, biomarkers, excipients, and other analytes.
• Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot HPLC, LC-MS, LC-MS/MS, plate-reader, and related analytical equipment.
• Prepare and analyze samples from plasma, serum, tissue, formulations, release media, and other biological or nonbiological matrices.
• Evaluate assay performance, review chromatograms and quality-control data, and document reproducible analytical results.
• Coordinate analytical activities across multidisciplinary translational research programs and collaborate with engineers, chemists, biologists, clinicians, and research staff.
• Support laboratory operations, procurement, safety, equipment stewardship, workflow organization, training, and setup of a new Brigham and Women’s Hospital research space.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in analytical chemistry, chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, engineering, biology, or a related discipline.
• Several years of relevant laboratory experience in bioanalysis, analytical chemistry, pharmaceutical development, biotechnology, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with HPLC method development, instrument operation, data analysis, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with LC-MS or LC-MS/MS workflows and biological, pharmaceutical, or formulation sample preparation.
• Understanding of calibration standards, quality-control samples, standard curves, analytical variability, quantitative data interpretation, and reproducible SOP documentation.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, samples, instruments, and deadlines while working independently and collaborating across research teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with quantitative LC-MS/MS assays, triple-quadrupole or high-resolution mass spectrometry, and chromatography or mass-spectrometry data-analysis software.
• Experience with ELISA development, drug concentrations or biomarkers in biological matrices, pharmacokinetic studies, drug-delivery systems, or controlled-release formulations.
• Familiarity with analytical method validation, regulatory guidance, laboratory information management systems, electronic laboratory notebooks, or sample-tracking systems.
• Experience with laboratory setup, equipment installation, vendor management, procurement, or training junior researchers.
