Engineering Manager, Machine Learning (Safety)

Salary: $272,000–$306,000 base salary per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Build, hire, coach, and lead a highly engaged team of machine learning engineers.
• Set the technical vision and roadmap for Safety ML in collaboration with Trust & Safety, Product, Policy, Legal, and Data Science.
• Own the full lifecycle of production safety models, including capability definition, performance measurement, and operational monitoring.
• Lead real-time and batch systems for content understanding, account integrity, and platform abuse detection.
• Partner with Trust & Safety on label quality, golden sets, and automation of manual investigations.
• Improve engineering processes and collaborate with other Engineering Managers across the organization.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer, Data Scientist, or Applied Scientist.
• 3+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager, including management of a team of 5+ engineers.
• Hands-on expertise in at least one area: abuse or fraud detection, content classification, behavioral modeling, graph-based modeling, or LLM-based classification systems.
• Proven experience shipping machine learning systems to production at scale.
• Strong communication, cross-functional collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to coach and lead engineers while contributing hands-on to technical work when needed.

Nice to have

• Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies for solving technical problems.
• Experience working in ambiguous environments and developing pragmatic solutions from first principles.
