Engineering Manager, Personalization (ML)

Location: San Francisco, CA or Sunnyvale, CA, United States

Salary: $193,800–$285,000 USD annual base salary, plus potential equity grants

What you will do

• Lead the Personalization engineering team within the Core Consumer organization.
• Build an intent agent that predicts consumer intent when the app opens and shapes the resulting experience.
• Apply LLMs and deep learning approaches, including GNNs, MTL, and Transformers, to semantic understanding of ranked entities.
• Develop multi-objective blending across reservations, going out, ads, and other business lines while balancing consumer, merchant, and hirify.global value.
• Build real-time ranking systems that adapt to consumer signals.
• Define the personalization strategy and technology roadmap with Product, Design, and Business stakeholders.
• Coach, empower, and grow engineers while maintaining high engineering standards and scaling the team through internal development and external hiring.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in Computer Science or an equivalent field.
• 7+ years of industry experience.
• At least 2 years of leadership experience.
• Broad machine learning knowledge with a strong foundation in ML modeling.
• Extensive experience building user-facing products and working directly with product managers.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to partner with multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to guide and grow an engineering team in a rapidly changing business environment.

Nice to have

• Experience leading successful applications of machine learning to real-world ranking and recommendation problems.
• Experience with LLM-powered agents, semantic representations of users and content, multi-objective blending, or real-time ML systems.
