Senior Data Scientist (Causal Inference)

Salary: $220,500–$245,000 base salary annually, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Improve the reliability and scalability of Discord's experimentation platform in collaboration with engineering and product teams.
• Provide statistical expertise on causal inference, experimental design, and experimentation methodologies.
• Lead education initiatives, workshops, training sessions, and materials on experimentation and statistical analysis.
• Help the 50+ member Data Science team apply more rigorous causal inference methods.
• Lead independent causal inference research on important Discord priorities.

Requirements

• Experience designing and validating statistical methodologies for experimentation platforms or similar systems.
• MSc in a quantitative field and 2+ years of experience designing, implementing, and analyzing experiments or causal inference projects.
• Ability to evaluate and recommend statistical approaches that strengthen experimentation frameworks.
• Ability to explain complex statistical and experimental design concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience developing and delivering training programs or educational content related to experimentation, causal inference, or statistical analysis.
• Proficiency with Python, SQL, R, and other statistical programming languages.

Nice to have

• PhD in a quantitative field.
• Experience applying causal inference methods to business decisions and outcomes.
• Interest in literature reviews and promoting scientific best practices.
• Causal inference publications.
• Passion for Discord or gaming.
