Security Operations Center Manager (Cybersecurity)

Location: Ashburn, VA; hybrid workplace. U.S. citizenship required.

What you will do

• Run the security operations center supporting continuous U.S. Customs and Border Protection operations.
• Own SOC people, processes, alert triage, prioritization, escalation standards, and performance.
• Coordinate insider threat monitoring, threat hunting, incident response, digital forensics, and vulnerability assessment.
• Ensure clean handoffs between specialist functions and maintain operational coverage across shifts and staffing gaps.
• Report security posture, incidents, exposure, and risk implications to non-technical leadership.
• Improve SOC operations through incident lessons learned, analyst development, standards, and playbooks.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship required.
• Experience running a security operations center or equivalent detection and response function.
• Experience managing a team through a real security incident.
• Experience reporting security posture and incidents to non-technical leadership.
• Experience in a federal or highly regulated security program.
• Comfort across insider threat, threat hunting, incident response, forensics, and vulnerability assessment.

Nice to have

• Active CBP Background Investigation and EOD preferred.
• Fitness determination at another DHS component or active DoD clearance.
• CISSP, GCIH, or CISM certification.
