Focus on hardening RTOS environments, managing SBOM-based vulnerabilities, defining embedded-to-cloud trust boundaries, and preparing products for certification and market release.

What you will do

  • Own cybersecurity engineering for embedded robotic platforms, including secure architecture, threat modeling, security controls, verification, and penetration testing.
  • Establish a secure development lifecycle aligned with IEC 62443-4-1 and EU Cyber Resilience Act requirements.
  • Harden RTOS environments and industrial communication protocols such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, ROS 2/SROS2, EtherCAT, PROFINET, and OPC UA.
  • Derive, allocate, and validate cybersecurity requirements across robotic hardware, software, controllers, sensor interfaces, communication stacks, and edge nodes.
  • Define the cybersecurity boundary between embedded or edge systems and cloud-connected services.
  • Translate regulatory developments into engineering guidance and support vulnerability disclosure, incident response readiness, and cross-project learning.

Requirements

  • MSc in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, IT Security, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of product or embedded cybersecurity engineering experience, including involvement in a product launch through certification or market release.
  • Deep expertise in IEC 62443-4-1 and IEC 62443-4-2, with familiarity with ISO/SAE 21434, UNECE R155, the EU Cyber Resilience Act, and NIST CSF.
  • Hands-on experience with secure boot chains, HSM/TPM, TLS, X.509, embedded Linux or RTOS environments, and firmware security.
  • Proficiency in threat modeling, penetration testing, and SBOM-based vulnerability management.
  • Ability to collaborate with robotics engineering, cloud and IT security, certification, and external audit teams.

Nice to have

  • ISA/IEC 62443 certification, OSCP, or equivalent.
  • Understanding of the relationship between embedded cybersecurity and functional safety standards such as IEC 61508 and ISO 13849.
