Cybersecurity Engineer

Location: Hybrid work in Bucharest, Romania, with work at the test site in Erlangen, Germany, and client sites. International travel is required for approximately 30% of the time.

What you will do

• Design future-proof IT/OT security strategies and concepts based on international standards and industry best practices.
• Analyze customer enquiries and incidents, advise on IT/OT issues, and collaborate with internal departments and suppliers.
• Maintain test environments that simulate production systems and perform vulnerability analyses, penetration test support, and security update testing.
• Create technical documentation, vulnerability reports, and asset management records to support transparency and regulatory compliance.
• Provide technical expertise for proposals, present security concepts, and support customer-oriented solutions.
• Design secure, multilayered network architectures using security-by-design and defense-in-depth principles.

Requirements

• Degree or completed education in network and communications technology, computer science, or IT security, or relevant apprenticeship with several years of professional experience.
• Hands-on experience with vulnerability scanning tools such as Nessus and the ability to assess, prioritize, and recommend remediation for vulnerabilities.
• Experience deploying, configuring, and maintaining IT/OT networks, including routing, switching, VLANs, firewall policies, and network segmentation.
• Knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, WSUS, virtualization, and at least two years of experience supporting critical infrastructure problem-solving.
• Familiarity with industrial IT security standards including NIS2, BDEW, NERC-CIP, IEC 62443, and CRA.
• English is required; customer orientation, teamwork, intercultural interest, and a pragmatic approach to technical challenges are expected.
