Cybersecurity Engineer

Location: Hybrid role based in Bucharest, Romania, with work in the Bucharest office, at the test site in Erlangen, Germany, and at client sites. International travel is required for approximately 30% of working time.

What you will do

• Design IT/OT security strategies, concepts, and secure network architectures for critical infrastructure and HVDC systems.
• Analyze customer incidents and enquiries, troubleshoot technical issues, and recommend configuration and security improvements.
• Maintain test environments that simulate production systems and perform vulnerability, penetration, and security update testing.
• Prepare technical documentation, vulnerability reports, and asset management records for transparency and regulatory compliance.
• Advise internal and external customers, support proposal activities, and develop customer-oriented security solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in network or communication technology, computer science, or IT security, or several years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience with vulnerability scanning tools such as Nessus and the ability to assess, prioritize, and document vulnerabilities.
• Experience deploying, configuring, and maintaining IT/OT networks, including routing, switching, VLANs, firewall policies, and network segmentation.
• Strong knowledge of IT administration, including Windows Server, Active Directory, WSUS, and virtualization, plus at least 2 years supporting critical infrastructure problem-solving.
• Knowledge of industrial security standards such as NIS2, BDEW, NERC-CIP, IEC 62443, and CRA.
• Proficiency in English, willingness to travel internationally, and willingness to spend several days at customer sites.
