Application Security Engineer (AWS/Kubernetes)

Location: Hamburg or Berlin, Germany

Salary: €65,000–€75,000 per year

What you will do

• Conduct regular penetration tests and secure code reviews.
• Advise on the setup and maintenance of applications and infrastructure hosted primarily in AWS and Kubernetes.
• Triage and respond to monitoring events and emerging security threats.
• Optimize and automate security auditing processes, including attack infrastructure, Python scripts, and security scanning in GitLab CI.
• Participate in SOC incident response activities, including occasional 24/7 on-call duties.
• Collaborate with security engineers, developers, and IT teams to apply security best practices.

Requirements

• Experience in application security and security engineering.
• Knowledge of threat modeling, penetration testing, and secure code review.
• Technical project management skills.
• Cloud experience with AWS.
• Python programming experience.

Nice to have

• GCP or Azure experience.
• PHP, JavaScript, or Go programming experience.
• Red teaming experience.
• Offensive Security certifications such as OSCP or OSWP.
• Experience with Laravel/PHP, incident response, web application firewalls, CDN providers, or GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
