Head of Legal, EU (Crypto)

Location: Vienna, Austria. The position is based in Austria.

What you will do

• Lead hirify.global EU’s legal operations and develop the legal team as the business scales.
• Design, implement, and maintain compliance programs, particularly under MiCAR.
• Advise leadership and product teams on the development and launch of MiCAR-compliant crypto products.
• Oversee compliance risk assessments, audits, corrective actions, and regulatory reporting.
• Lead the preparation and submission of regulatory reports, licenses, and approvals in Austria.
• Guide Marketing and cross-functional teams on EU regulatory requirements and build compliance training programs.

Requirements

• Law degree such as LLB, JD, Mag. iur., LL.M., or equivalent.
• At least 8 years of legal and regulatory experience, preferably in-house at a large crypto or fintech firm.
• Experience in Austria and/or the EU, including regulatory or licensing initiatives and direct coordination with regulators across multiple jurisdictions.
• Strong knowledge of Austrian and EU compliance law, especially MiCAR, MiFID, the E-Money Directive, the Payment Services Directive, and banking-sector regulations.
• Ability to translate complex regulations into practical guidance for Product, Marketing, leadership, and other stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills are required. German proficiency is an advantage.
