TL;DR
Director AI/ML Driven ASIC Design and Implementation Automation (AI/ML): Developing and piloting AI/ML-driven automation methods, flows, and tools for ASIC, SoC, and IP design and implementation with an accent on power, performance, area, and quality optimization. Focus on evaluating GenAI, reinforcement learning, graph neural networks, and convolutional networks for VLSI CAD, while coordinating architecture, design, verification, and implementation teams.

Location: Austin (Oakhill), Office; San Diego, CA

What you will do

  • Explore AI/ML research ideas and solutions for VLSI design, CAD software, and ASIC implementation automation.
  • Develop prototype solutions and evaluate state-of-the-art techniques on real NXP designs.
  • Improve power, performance, area, and quality of results for SoC and IP development teams.
  • Work with academic research communities and industry experts on AI/ML applications for VLSI design.
  • Coordinate digital transformation initiatives across architecture, IP, SoC design, verification, and implementation teams.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience applying AI and ML techniques, including LLMs, CNNs, RNNs, and GraphNNs, to real-world optimization problems.
  • Hands-on programming experience with Python and C++.
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, software development, optimization, Unix/Linux, Git or BitBucket, and debugging tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on understanding of ASIC, VLSI CAD, design, implementation, and automation workflows.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of design constraints, SDC, clocks, CDC, RDC, static timing analysis, low-power design, and UPF.
  • Experience with VLSI CAD methodology, EDA tools, HDL, SystemVerilog, Verilog, or VHDL.
  • Experience with DesignSync, Make, Splunk, Jenkins, LSF, or CI/CD processes.
