Computer Vision Engineer (VisionAI)

Location: Onsite at the central Sydney headquarters, Australia

What you will do

• Design, implement, benchmark, and optimize computer vision algorithms for drone detection, classification, and tracking.
• Develop software interfaces for integrating new camera models and configurations.
• Build camera- and algorithm-based optical systems for AI-powered detection, identification, and tracking.
• Collaborate with system engineers, machine learning engineers, and product teams to define requirements and integrate vision solutions.
• Optimize products for reliable, performant operation in real-world defence applications.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• More than 3 years of software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in C++, including multithreading, unit testing, benchmarking, and profiling.
• Required experience with Python and computer vision libraries such as OpenCV or AI model integration using ONNX and TensorRT.
• Experience integrating cameras or similar sensors, including LiDAR or thermal cameras.
• Experience with version control and workflow automation tools such as Git, GitLab CI, or ClearML.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Golang.
• Experience with control algorithms for electromechanical systems.
• Experience with edge computing or embedded real-time systems, including NVIDIA GPUs, CUDA, or GStreamer.
• Knowledge of dynamic-system modelling, system identification, object tracking algorithms, or control theory.
• Previous startup or scale-up experience.
