Location: Hybrid role based in Harwell, Didcot, Oxfordshire, UK

What you will do
- Design and develop computer vision algorithms for space object detection, tracking, and 6DoF pose estimation.
- Define computer vision subsystem architectures, requirements, and performance budgets aligned with mission objectives.
- Plan and execute verification and validation activities, including performance assessment and requirements verification.
- Integrate and test flight software implementations of computer vision algorithms.
- Collaborate with hardware vendors, supplier chain management, Systems, GNC, and Flight Dynamics engineering teams.
- Research computer vision algorithm designs for spacecraft rendezvous and proximity-operation missions.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a relevant engineering or science discipline.
- At least 2 years of industrial or research experience developing and deploying computer vision algorithms.
- Strong knowledge of computer vision, image processing, machine learning, and deep learning.
- Experience developing algorithms from concept through validation and deployment.
- Strong programming skills in Python, Matlab, C, or C++, with familiarity with OpenCV, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.
- Knowledge of software configuration management, Git and Git-flow, and LiDAR or camera sensor principles.
Nice to have
- Experience with vision-based perception and navigation in space or the space industry.
- Experience designing experimental testbeds for algorithm training and testing data.
- Knowledge of rigid-body dynamics, robotics kinematics, LiDAR signal processing, sensor fusion, or multi-sensor perception.
- Experience with embedded or safety-critical software, CI/CD, automated testing, Jenkins, GTest, ROS, or ROS2.
