Senior Editor, Data and Visual Journalism- CNBC

Location: Onsite at CNBC Headquarters in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, United States. Unrestricted work authorization in the United States is required; selected external candidates may attend an in-person interview.

Salary: USD 130,000–160,000 yearly, plus bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Lead a team of data visualization journalists and set the strategy for visual storytelling on CNBC.com.
• Collaborate with reporters, editors, product, engineering, and digital managers to identify data-driven editorial opportunities.
• Translate complex datasets into clear charts, graphics, interactive explainers, and multimedia experiences.
• Develop real-time and dynamic visualizations for markets, policy, economic data, breaking news, enterprise stories, and special projects.
• Establish chart design, editorial integrity, and quick-turn production workflows.
• Build reusable visual templates and components, including scroll-based storytelling and animated experiences.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience creating data visualization, information graphics, or visual journalism for a news publication, including at least 1 year leading a team.
• Strong portfolio of visual storytelling and interactive projects.
• Mastery of tools such as Datawrapper, Flourish, Tableau, Illustrator, Figma, or D3-based tools.
• Experience building interactive graphics or web experiences with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Svelte, and D3-based visualization tools.
• Deep understanding of data analysis, data storytelling, news judgment, and editorial storytelling.
• Must have unrestricted work authorization in the United States.
