Staff Production Operations Engineer (AWS)

Location: Hybrid role within the United States

Salary: $199,400 – $299,200 USD

What you will do

• Lead application operations and production support for internal and public-facing services in AWS and container environments.
• Define and evolve production operations architecture, readiness standards, and reusable automation patterns.
• Architect and scale tools for API telemetry, release validation, and operational readiness to reduce toil.
• Establish CI/CD operational gates and governance mechanisms to improve release confidence and engineering velocity.
• Advance observability and event correlation using service health signals to reduce MTTD and MTTR.
• Provide rotational on-call support and lead incident response, RCA, and systemic fixes for recurring issues.

Requirements

• Must have US work authorization
• 10+ years of experience operating and supporting services in production environments at scale.
• 5+ years of AWS Cloud experience deploying and operating Java/API services.
• Deep expertise in distributed service architecture, Unix/Linux internals, and networking.
• Strong proficiency in containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS/UKS).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD tooling.
• Hands-on incident management experience, including on-call coordination and RCA.

Nice to have

• Experience with payment processing, commerce, entitlement, or financial systems.
• Experience with AI-assisted or agentic engineering workflows (e.g., Cursor, Claude).
