Staff Production Operations Engineer (AWS/Kubernetes)

Base pay: $199,400–$299,200 USD per year, with potential bonus eligibility

What you will do

• Lead production operations and support for internal and public-facing services running on AWS and container platforms.
• Define production operations architecture, readiness standards, automation, monitoring, runbooks, rollback plans, and operational acceptance criteria.
• Build tools, scripts, and automation frameworks for API telemetry, release validation, operational readiness, and incident response.
• Establish CI/CD operational gates, production validation practices, and governance mechanisms that improve release confidence.
• Advance observability, event correlation, dashboards, alerts, performance, capacity planning, infrastructure modernization, and cost optimization.
• Partner with SRE, platform, service engineering, product, data, and business teams; provide rotational on-call support, lead incident response and RCA, and drive systemic fixes.

Requirements

• Staff-level hands-on experience across software development, systems engineering, production operations, and service architecture.
• Strong expertise in distributed service operations, Linux, networking, TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, load balancing, APIs, and troubleshooting.
• AWS operations experience with services including ALB, Route 53, API Gateway, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, and ElastiCache.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, EKS/UKS, Fargate, Python, Go or Java, Git, configuration management, Terraform or CloudFormation, and CI/CD tooling.
• Experience with observability and incident tools such as Datadog, CloudWatch, Splunk, Grafana, BigPanda, Slack, JIRA, and ServiceNow.
• BS degree or equivalent in a related technical field, 10+ years operating production services at scale, and 5+ years of AWS Cloud experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with payment processing, commerce, entitlements, wallets, fraud, or financial systems.
• Experience with AI-assisted development and agentic engineering workflows using Codex, Claude, Cursor, or similar tools.
