Principal Research Scientist, Robotics

Location: Onsite at 665 Clyde Avenue, Mountain View, California, USA

Base pay range: $242,500–$376,650 USD annually, with annual bonus eligibility and benefits.

What you will do

• Conduct state-of-the-art research advancing long-horizon robot autonomy and real-world robot reasoning.
• Research task-and-motion planning, agentic robotics, vision language models, open-world 3D perception, world models, locomanipulation, and multimodal data fusion.
• Lead researchers and engineers in designing and implementing research prototypes and technology demonstrators on robotic platforms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-divisional teams on system design, analysis, and performance evaluation.
• Shape R&D priorities by tracking scientific developments and communicating technical findings.
• Establish cooperative projects with universities and startups, and produce patents and scientific papers for top-tier venues.

Requirements

• PhD in computer science, electrical engineering, robotics, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• 11+ years of post-graduate experience conducting state-of-the-art robotics R&D.
• Multiple first-author publications at top-tier robotics or related venues.
• Strong foundation in robotics, machine learning, planning, and computer vision.
• Experience implementing and testing complex integrated behaviors on simulated and real robots.
• Familiarity with ML model development, tuning, evaluation, and deployment tools, including PyTorch, TensorFlow, C++, ROS, and CUDA.

Nice to have

• Experience establishing research collaborations with universities, startups, or government laboratories.
• Experience working across consumer electronics or advanced research product ecosystems.
