TL;DR
Research Scientist, RL & Simulation (Robotics): Building simulation environments and robot-learning pipelines that convert large-scale human demonstrations into scalable robot learning signals with an accent on policy training, evaluation, and sim-to-real transfer. Focus on retargeting human motion to robot actions, designing reinforcement and imitation learning systems, and analyzing domain gaps and failure modes.

Location: New York, on-site

Salary: $200,000–$250,000 per year plus equity

hirify.global is building the data infrastructure layer for robotics and embodied AI, delivering real-world datasets for training, evaluating, and deploying robotic systems.

What you will do

  • Build and maintain robotics simulation environments using platforms such as Isaac Sim, Isaac Gym, MuJoCo, Genesis, Habitat, and ManiSkill.
  • Prioritize environments and assets to maximize learning velocity.
  • Convert human demonstrations into robot-executable trajectories using IK-based, optimization-based, and learning-based retargeting.
  • Train policies with imitation learning and reinforcement learning, including Behavior Cloning, DAgGER-style aggregation, Offline RL, PPO, and SAC.
  • Define success metrics, stress tests, generalization evaluations, and regression tracking.
  • Drive sim-to-real transfer through domain randomization, system identification, contact modeling, real-data analysis, and failure-mode investigation.

Requirements

  • MSc, PhD, or equivalent research experience in robotics, machine learning, or a related field.
  • Strong hands-on experience with robot simulation and policy learning.
  • Proficiency in Python and disciplined engineering practices, including reproducible experiments, clean code, and debugging.
  • Ability to work end-to-end across environments, data, training, and evaluation.
  • Research Scientist applicants should apply to only one research role.

Nice to have

  • Experience with manipulation, dexterous hands, or locomotion.
  • Experience with retargeting, inverse kinematics, trajectory optimization, or differentiable simulation.
  • Strong intuition for the factors that determine sim-to-real success or failure.
