Senior Backend Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Palo Alto, California, United States. On-site role.

Salary: $150,000–$180,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Own defined project scopes and initiatives, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
• Define, develop, and maintain deployment processes and tools across IT, OT, and cloud environments.
• Support system health, reliability, and operational robustness.
• Apply best practices for highly scalable, distributed, and autonomous systems.
• Lead, guide, and empower other engineers.

Requirements

• 3+ years of software development experience with HTTP/S proxies, WebSockets, packet tracing, and multi-tier client/server communication.
• Practical knowledge of JavaScript execution in modern web browsers, JWT, SAML, SSO, authentication, and authorization.
• Knowledge of multithreading, inter-process communication, socket programming, high-performance, and low-latency programming.
• Experience with secure coding, vulnerability assessment, and threat analysis using C++, Go, or Java.
• Hands-on experience with RDP, VNC, HTTP, SSH, certificates, TLS, cryptography, PKI, microservices, reverse proxies, NGINX, SOCKS5, and load balancers.
• Strong Linux, Docker, debugging, troubleshooting, quality, and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience developing NGINX plugins or working with NGINX internals.
• Experience developing applications with the Guacamole framework.
