Embedded Systems Engineer I

Location: Waterloo, London, UK — hybrid, 2 days per week in the office

Salary: £38,000–£52,000 GBP base salary per year, plus bonus or commission.

What you will do

• Validate hardware and perform board bring-up in collaboration with hardware and firmware engineers.
• Develop and maintain board support packages for Hardsec solutions.
• Design, develop, integrate, and test embedded software, firmware, and hardware prototypes.
• Build automated Python tests and perform manual functional and performance testing.
• Maintain and port upstream open-source projects including the Linux kernel, Yocto, and AOSP.
• Conduct security reviews, apply patches, and improve code through reviews, refactoring, and continuous integration.

Requirements

• Interest in developing embedded software for commercial products.
• Knowledge of multiple programming languages, such as C, C++, and Python.
• Understanding of concurrency, networking, performance measurement, and algorithms.
• Practical experience with development boards such as Raspberry Pi or Arduino and/or embedded IoT systems.
• Basic familiarity with the Linux command line and filesystem structure.
