TL;DR
Senior Sensor Simulation Engineer, Radar (Automotive Sensor Simulation): Building and validating physically accurate radar models for autonomous-system simulation with an accent on RF propagation, RCS, Doppler, multipath, antenna patterns, and measured-data correlation. Focus on designing the sensor simulation roadmap, modeling difficult weather conditions, and translating perception failure modes into rigorous multi-modal fidelity requirements.

Location: Fully remote within North America; PST working hours.

Base salary: $155,000–$175,000 per year.

Company

hirify.global builds high-fidelity virtual environments for validating autonomous vehicles and other Physical AI systems.

What you will do

  • Own the multi-quarter technical roadmap for radar, lidar, thermal/LWIR, and the broader sensor simulation portfolio.
  • Build physically accurate sensor models in modern C++ against a real-time rendering pipeline.
  • Model radar effects including RF propagation, RCS, Doppler, multipath, antenna patterns, and raw pre-detection output.
  • Define validation metrics and methodologies using measured real-world sensor data, including correlation and error analysis.
  • Improve simulation fidelity for rain, wetness, snow accumulation, low visibility, and other difficult environmental conditions.
  • Partner with perception, ML, product, engineering, and customer teams while providing technical direction to engineers.

Requirements

  • Experience building deployed simulation, sensor-modeling, or computational-physics software.
  • Strong foundation in physics, applied physics, or electrical engineering, including EM propagation, signal processing, radiometry, and linear algebra.
  • Deep radar/RF, sensor-physics, or closely related electromagnetics experience.
  • Experience validating models against measured sensor data and analyzing accuracy and error sources.
  • Effective development, debugging, and extension of performance-sensitive modern C++ code in a large multi-library codebase with build and CI systems.
  • Ability to set technical direction and communicate across research, graphics engineering, product, and executive stakeholders.

Nice to have

  • Experience with raw radar simulation, including ADC-level, range-Doppler, or pre-clustering point-cloud output.
  • Thermal imaging, LWIR, radiometric modeling, material emissivity, or thermal scene modeling experience.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine, comparable real-time engines, GPU compute, ray tracing, or physics engines.
  • Background in autonomous vehicles, robotics, ADAS, aerospace sensing, commercial sensor simulation, Tier-1, or OEM sensor teams.

Culture & Benefits

  • Remote work within North America with PST-based working hours.
  • Equity and employer-paid supplemental medical, mental health, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Flexible paid vacation, sick time, winter shutdown, and 11+ holidays annually.
  • Paid parental leave and an equipment budget.
  • Annual learning and development stipend.
