Staff Data Engineer

Location: Rosslyn, Virginia, or remote within the United States. Occasional travel to customer and partner sites may be required a few times per year. U.S. citizenship is required, with the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Base salary: $185,000–$220,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable batch and streaming data processing, storage, and integration pipelines using Apache Airflow, Benthos, and modern data stack components.
• Own features end to end, from requirements interpretation and technical design through planning and implementation.
• Develop clean, documented, scalable, extensible, and testable code.
• Partner with data scientists, engineers, product managers, program managers, and designers to build semantic data models for complex vehicular systems.
• Create reliable, cost-effective, dynamically scalable, and observable data solutions using AWS services.
• Analyze complex datasets, verify data quality and integrity, and support field integration and deployment efforts.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software or data engineering experience and strong software engineering fundamentals.
• 6+ years of experience with Go, Java, or Python.
• 6+ years of relational database experience, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle, plus experience with Hadoop, Spark, and data modeling.
• 4+ years of experience with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud services, and cloud monitoring tools.
• Expertise in batch and streaming data pipelines, including Apache Airflow or Benthos.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Nice to have

• MS in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Cyber Intelligence, or an equivalent qualification.
• Experience with data lakes and warehouses such as Snowflake, Databricks, or Redshift.
• Experience with CI/CD, source control, design reviews, and observability practices.
• Experience with Rust, SDK design, and generated type-specific bindings for Python, Go, or TypeScript.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for customer and partner site support.
