Quantum Hardware Researcher (Quantum Computing)

What you will do

• Launch, maintain, develop, and operate the on-premises Helios quantum computer at a customer site.
• Take responsibility for quantum hardware subsystems such as lasers and capabilities such as ion transport.
• Conceptualize and execute operational and development plans.
• Remotely operate and maintain cloud-based H-series quantum computers as part of a global team.
• Mentor and train junior team members in technical and operational matters.
• Travel abroad for training or other business needs.

Requirements

• Ph.D. required, with at least five years of postgraduate experience, including M.S. or Ph.D. study.
• Broad and deep understanding of quantum computing, atomic physics, and/or technical operations.
• Experience operating a quantum computer or a similarly complex system or apparatus as part of a small team.
• English required for reading, writing, and verbal communication of technical topics.
• Applicants must not be nationals of the People's Republic of China or Russia due to U.S. Government national security requirements.
• Strong organizational, leadership, written communication, and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Ph.D. in physics, engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
• Hardware expertise in atomic physics systems, superconducting qubits, or other quantum computing platforms.
• Experience with lasers, laser cooling, atom trapping, cryogenics, ultra-high vacuum systems, analog and digital electronics, laboratory hardware control, Python, physical modeling, and data analysis.
• High-technology research and development experience demonstrated through scholarly publications or granted patents.
• International or remote collaboration experience and a strong professional network.
