Technical Staff Engineer - Software (Build System Engineer / DevOps) (C/C++)

Location: San Jose, California, United States; onsite role with usual business hours

Annual base salary: $91,000–$232,000, plus restricted stock units and quarterly bonuses.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance cross-platform software applications using C/C++ and Qt.
• Automate workflows, build processes, testing, and deployment activities with Python, Bash, Perl, and PowerShell.
• Manage GCC compiler toolchains and upgrades across Windows and Linux environments.
• Develop and maintain build systems using gmake and Bazel.
• Integrate and optimize CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitLab, and Bitbucket.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, troubleshoot complex issues, review code, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 12+ years of relevant software engineering experience, including at least 10 years in DevOps or build engineering for C/C++ environments.
• Extensive experience with Qt application development and strong knowledge of MSVC and Linux system libraries.
• Advanced Python and scripting skills, including Bash, Perl, or PowerShell.
• Expertise with GCC compiler upgrades, build toolchains, gmake, and Bazel.
• Experience with CI/CD, Git, software development lifecycle practices, debugging, collaboration, and technical leadership.
