Associate Security Research Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Ankara, Turkey; hybrid work from the Ankara office

What you will do

• Research emerging threats, malware, threat actors, and vulnerability exploitation campaigns.
• Create technical content including research papers, offensive and defensive security reports, whitepapers, blogs, solution and integration briefs, battlecards, webinars, demos, and conference presentations.
• Learn the Picus platform and work with Picus Labs, Product, and Engineering to explain platform capabilities through clear technical narratives.
• Monitor market trends, analyst perspectives, competitors, and emerging security categories to support differentiated content.
• Develop knowledge of SEO and AEO and apply it to technical content throughout the customer funnel.
• Collaborate with Growth, Threat Research, Red and Blue Teams, and Alliances to publish research and technical findings.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of offensive or defensive cybersecurity experience, including internships, labs, CTFs, or academic and personal projects.
• Technical writing experience or a strong willingness to build a portfolio through blogs, notes, write-ups, talks, or research.
• Ability or willingness to translate technical concepts for different audiences.
• Strong written and verbal English proficiency required.
• Exposure to penetration testing tools, vulnerability management, security control validation, and blue-team tools such as SIEM or EDR/XDR.
• Basic scripting or automation skills with Python, n8n, or comparable agent and workflow tooling, plus awareness of modern cybersecurity problems.

Nice to have

• Interest in autonomous or agentic security validation.
• Hands-on experience with adversarial techniques through a home lab, CTFs, or coursework.
• Cybersecurity certifications such as Security+, eJPT, BTL1, or similar.
• Contributions to the cybersecurity community through a blog, GitHub, forum, meetup, or similar activity.
• Public speaking, presentation, or SEO/AEO experience.
