Software Engineer (Quantum Networking)

hirify.global develops quantum photonic technology and scalable quantum networking infrastructure in partnership with companies and academic groups.

What you will do

• Develop software that interfaces with proprietary optical, electronic, and mechanical hardware, as well as third-party scientific equipment.
• Create firmware and software for embedded systems used in quantum network control.
• Develop graphical user interfaces for product demonstrators and measurement control.
• Automate scientific experiments and create tools for scientists to develop, test, and enhance quantum networking solutions.
• Collaborate with FPGA, electronics, science, and engineering specialists in an agile software team.
• Write maintainable, testable code and contribute to workflow and system design improvements.

Requirements

• Experience developing with a compiled language such as Rust or C++.
• Knowledge of embedded systems, including microcontrollers, SoCs, or FPGA soft cores.
• Proficiency with a scripting language such as Python.
• Experience with source control, continuous integration, unit testing, integration testing, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across disciplines.

Nice to have

• Strong Rust skills or experience with FPGAs and microcontrollers.
• Experience creating user interfaces with Dart and Flutter.
• Experience creating Linux-based systems with Yocto.
• Familiarity with API principles, RPC protocols, and gRPC.
• Experience with Agile or Agile-inspired methodologies.
