Photonics Product Engineering Lead (Silicon Photonics)

What you will do

• Lead validation of high-speed silicon photonics and photonic integrated circuit designs from device level through complete optical system specifications.
• Develop and execute characterization and validation plans for modulators, photodetectors, waveguides, couplers, and CWDM/DWDM/BiDi multiplexers.
• Correlate wafer-, package-, and system-level performance with product targets across 100G, 200G, and 400G per-lane architectures.
• Define test structures, design-of-experiments, and measurement methods across process, voltage, and temperature conditions.
• Analyze link budgets, bandwidth, insertion loss, crosstalk, extinction ratio, BER, and power efficiency for CPO and pluggable optics requirements.
• Drive design-for-manufacturability and design-for-test improvements, support tape-out bring-up and characterization, and document product maturity for qualification and production release.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline; an advanced degree is preferred.
• Experience designing, characterizing, or validating silicon photonics, photonic integrated circuits, and high-speed optical devices.
• Strong understanding of optical device physics, including modulators, photodetectors, lasers, couplers, and wavelength multiplexing.
• Hands-on experience with vector network analyzers, optical spectrum analyzers, BER testers, high-speed oscilloscopes, optical power and wavelength meters, and wafer probe stations.
• Working knowledge of link budgets, eye diagrams, BER evaluation, and PAM4 or coherent signaling for high-speed optical systems.
• Proficiency in test automation and data analysis using Python or MATLAB, with the ability to correlate first-silicon data with specifications and models.
