Principal Engineer (Cloud): Shaping solution architecture and system design across REA’s Listings portfolio with an accent on scalable platforms, modernization, and cross-squad technical strategy. Focus on prototyping critical solutions, solving complex engineering challenges, and mentoring experienced engineers across three teams.

What you will do
- Design solution architecture and system designs across the business-critical Listings portfolio.
- Prototype solutions, contribute to critical code, and help teams solve complex engineering problems.
- Align technical strategy across Engineering Managers and Senior Engineering Managers while guiding work across three teams.
- Partner with product and engineering stakeholders to validate solutions early and deliver pragmatic technical outcomes.
- Champion engineering quality, platform health, operational excellence, and maintainable system design.
- Coach experienced engineers and contribute to knowledge-sharing and technical thought leadership.
Requirements
- Approximately 15 years of experience in engineering or a related field, ideally in an agile environment.
- Proficiency in one or more of Python, Scala, Java, or Kotlin.
- Strong understanding of AWS, GCP, or Azure cloud platforms and platform architecture.
- Experience with modernization or transformation and building scalable, resilient, and maintainable platforms.
- Proven ability to influence technical direction across engineering squads, leaders, architects, and product stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring teams or leading cross-functional technical projects.

- Experience guiding platform evolution, system modernization, operational excellence, and engineering best practices.
