Principal GNC Engineer, Responsive Space (Top Secret Clearance) (Spacecraft GNC)

Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite. Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain an applicable U.S. export license.

Salary: $230,000–$270,000 per year, plus potential stock options and benefits.

What you will do

• Architect GNC flight, test, and analysis systems for high-maneuverability spacecraft produced at scale.
• Guide the development of robust control algorithms for satellites operating in LEO, GEO, and cislunar regimes.
• Develop GNC flight and simulation software, including new algorithms, hardware models, and orbital-regime changes.
• Participate in vehicle-level hardware and software design reviews and trade studies while coordinating GNC requirements across disciplines.
• Interface with internal and external partners to align vehicle design with mission needs.
• Mentor engineers, define GNC best practices, communicate design intent, and resolve complex technical issues; personnel management may be included.

Requirements

• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, mathematics, or a related field.
• 12+ years of experience in spacecraft control design and analysis.
• Proficiency in Matlab and C++.
• Experience performing control analysis in time and frequency domains.
• Experience in spacecraft operations.

Nice to have

• Experience with vehicle GNC design processes from concept through design reviews and implementation.
• Experience with agile GEO vehicles and high-thrust spacecraft.
• Experience in a startup or agile development environment.
