Software Architect (Edge AI)

Location: On-site 5 days a week in NW Austin, Texas, United States. Must have the right to work in the US without visa sponsorship now or in the future.

What you will do

• Drive software architecture and requirements for low-power Edge AI microcontroller families.
• Analyze preliminary hardware, marketing, and software inputs and contribute to software requirements specifications.
• Define functional allocation, develop prototypes, and establish requirements traceability and testability.
• Collaborate with hardware, product marketing, field, system test, IP vendor, and software development teams on customer use cases and system requirements.
• Review software designs, test plans, code, and test results as a software architecture subject matter expert.
• Support performance and power optimization, define architectural standards, resolve complex technical issues, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
• 12+ years of embedded software development experience in real-time environments, including bare metal and RTOS.
• Strong C, C++, and assembly programming experience for embedded targets using ARM Cortex-M processors.
• Experience writing software requirements specifications for customer use cases, derived requirements, FPGA-based emulation platforms, and system reference designs.
• Experience with asymmetric multicore systems, control/data plane interaction, OpenAMP or RPMsg, data movement engines, memory management, memory protection, caches, and shared or dual-port memory.
• Ability to independently manage priorities, meet deadlines, and solve problems with minimal supervision.

Nice to have

• Experience with embedded-system power optimization, voltage and frequency scaling, clock gating, sleep/wake cycles, and low-power processor or peripheral modes.
• Familiarity with ARM/Keil, IAR, Eclipse, or another MCU IDE on Windows.
• Familiarity with TrustZone for M-Class microcontrollers or Trusted Firmware for microcontrollers.
• Experience with graphics, display, and audio/video processing in embedded systems.
