AI Research Scientist (LLMs)

Location: Hybrid in New York City or San Francisco, United States

Salary: $200K–$300K annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Formulate and explore open questions in deep learning, reinforcement learning, and agent-based AI.
• Develop novel architectures, algorithms, and theoretical insights for reasoning in complex environments.
• Collaborate with engineers to implement, experiment, and iterate on research ideas.
• Publish and present research and contribute to the broader AI research community.
• Mentor and support technical talent.

Requirements

• Demonstrated track record of impactful AI/ML research through papers, open source, or novel deployments.
• Deep expertise in at least one of LLMs, reinforcement learning, agent-based systems, generative modeling, or theory of intelligence.
• Strong mathematical background in probability, optimization, and statistics.
• Proficiency in Python and modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch or JAX.
• Ability to translate theory into robust, practical, maintainable code.
• Current knowledge of LLM research and experience using modern AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex.
