Forward Deployed Software Engineer (Japan Forward Deployed)

Location: On-site in Tokyo, Japan; willingness to travel within Japan as needed. Relocation support may apply for eligible deployments via SOFA.

Salary: $135,000–$200,000 per year, plus potential restricted stock units, sign-on bonus, and other incentives.

What you will do

• Understand customer pain points and design end-to-end technical solutions.
• Lead system design, prototyping, application development, and data integration.
• Deploy custom applications using hirify.global platforms, open-source technologies, and internal tools.
• Build and integrate distributed data systems and cloud infrastructure.
• Iterate rapidly based on feedback from customers and colleagues.
• Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver operational outcomes.

Requirements

• Strong engineering background in computer science, mathematics, software engineering, physics, or a related field.
• Strong programming ability in Python, Java, C++, TypeScript/JavaScript, or similar languages.
• Familiarity with data structures, storage systems, cloud infrastructure, and front-end frameworks.
• Ability to work independently, make decisions with minimal supervision, and adapt to changing objectives.
• Ability to collaborate with customers and colleagues in rapidly changing environments.
• Active Top Secret Clearance with eligibility and willingness to obtain SCI is required.

• Experience with logistics, materiel, sustainment, aviation, or readiness analysis.
