Applied AI Engineer (AI)

Location: Tokyo, Japan; hybrid work with at least 3 days per week in the Japan office

What you will do

• Build AI-powered workflows, assistants, agents, and automation systems for the AI Finance Agent.
• Apply AI to customer support, CRM, onboarding, claims, renewals, payments, operations, and internal tools.
• Integrate LLMs with internal data, APIs, documents, knowledge bases, and business systems.
• Design evaluation, monitoring, and fallback flows to make AI outputs safe, useful, and reliable.
• Prototype with users or operators, test practical systems, and productionize successful solutions.
• Work with product and engineering teams to turn manual processes into scalable AI-native systems.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering foundation, preferably with Python and backend systems.
• Hands-on experience with LLM APIs, agents, RAG, workflow automation, or AI tools.
• Ability to connect AI systems with real product, data, and operational workflows.
• Understanding of evaluation, accuracy, latency, cost, privacy, reliability, and failure modes.
• Strong English communication is required; English is the main working language across global teams.
• Availability to work from the Japan office at least 3 days per week in a hybrid arrangement.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, insurance, support automation, CRM, or operations automation.
• Experience building practical AI systems rather than research-only projects or demos.
