Engineering Doctorate (EngD Traineeship) in Designer in Bioprocess Engineering (Biotech)

Location: Delft, Netherlands; full-time programme based at Delft University of Technology and its facilities.

Salary: €3,029 gross per month based on a full-time 38-hour contract, plus 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus.

What you will do

• Complete mandatory courses in economic evaluation and project management.
• Choose advanced courses in fermentation technology, microbiology, downstream processing, environmental biotechnology, or biocatalysts.
• Contribute to a group design project during the first year.
• Complete an individual bioprocess design project in the second year with or alongside a biotech industry partner.
• Apply technical knowledge to process design, development, and industrial technology implementation.
• Develop independence, creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, and project management skills.

Requirements

• Five years of university training and an MSc, Ir., Engineering Diploma, or comparable qualification.
• MSc degree in (Bio-)Chemical Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, Environmental or Food Technology, or a comparable field, with excellent results.
• Interest in a career in the international biotech industry, particularly process design, process development, and technology application.
• Interdisciplinary attitude, application-oriented thinking, and strong team skills.
• Excellent spoken and written English; non-native speakers without an English-taught Master’s degree must provide evidence through an accepted English test.
• Applicants are expected to be high-performing students capable of working in a competitive, multicultural environment.
