TL;DR
Lead Mission Integration Engineer (Aerospace): Defining end-to-end mission architectures and integrating spacecraft, launch vehicles, ground systems, payloads, and mission operations with an accent on orbital mechanics, trajectory planning, and scalable mission execution. Focus on leading technical design reviews, directing coupled loads, thermal, EMC, and mission-budget assessments, and balancing engineering management with hands-on mission integration.

Location: Los Angeles, United States; on-site. U.S. Person status is required to access export-controlled data.

Estimated base salary: $175,000–$210,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

  • Lead the mission integration team and define end-to-end mission architectures covering spacecraft, launch vehicles, ground systems, and operations.
  • Own mission analysis across orbital mechanics, trajectory planning, and spacecraft deployment strategies while mentoring engineers.
  • Act as the senior technical liaison for customers and internal teams during design reviews and mission readiness assessments.
  • Direct coupled loads, thermal, electromagnetic compatibility, and mission-specific budget assessments across concurrent missions.
  • Lead payload integration, establish integration procedures, and develop technical roadmaps for future missions.
  • Support business development through technical proposals, feasibility studies, and cost estimates.

Requirements

  • U.S. Person status required for access to export-controlled data.
  • 8+ years of mission integration, payload integration, or spacecraft systems engineering experience.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience or experience managing engineering teams in a senior technical role.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in aerospace, mechanical, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of space systems, launch vehicle mechanics, orbital dynamics, and mission operations, with successful mission delivery experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with STK, FreeFlyer, GMAT, MATLAB, or Python, plus experience with prime contractors or government entities and CubeSat, small satellite, or rideshare mission integration.

Nice to have

  • Experience with flight software, embedded systems, and CCSDS, S-band, or X-band communications protocols.
  • Leadership experience in spacecraft, launch vehicle, or payload engineering within satellite manufacturing or related aerospace industries.
  • Background in system-level FMEA and reliability engineering.
