Embedded Software Engineer (Camera & Driver Platform) (Embedded Linux)

Location: Zurich, Switzerland; hybrid workplace.

hirify.global builds a software platform for AI-powered autonomous robotic systems used by enterprise and government customers across surveillance, defense, inspection, mapping, and logistics.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain camera data pipelines on hirify.globalOS, including streaming, multi-sensor synchronization, and pipeline architecture.
• Develop features, fix bugs, write tests, and optimize software components running on hirify.global’s custom embedded Linux distribution.
• Work within the Computer Vision team and collaborate with hardware development and customer-facing teams.
• Ensure reliable operation of software on platforms used by internal and external customers.
• Propose software solutions, own implementations, and contribute to documentation, knowledge bases, stand-ups, and release planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of professional experience writing object-oriented C++ and/or Python.
• Extensive experience with embedded architectures, including cross-compilation, debugging, and performance optimization.
• Strong Linux fundamentals, including kernel basics, systemd, device drivers, device trees, and U-Boot bootloaders.
• Experience managing Docker environments, Debian packaging, and video streaming technologies such as MIPI CSI and GStreamer.
• Product-oriented, hands-on approach with the ability to drive initiatives and collaborate across the organization.

Nice to have

• Electrical engineering experience and familiarity with schematics and debugging I2C, SPI, UART, or CAN bus communication.
• Experience with NXP i.MX or NVIDIA Jetson platforms.
• ROS1 or ROS2 experience.
