Epitaxy Process Shift Engineer (MOCVD)

Location: Towcester, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom; onsite attendance is essential. The role follows a continental shift pattern: two 7am–7pm shifts, two 7pm–7am shifts, followed by four days off. The site is in a rural location without public transport.

What you will do

• Support day-to-day Epitaxy manufacturing, including tool setup, wet preparation, visual inspection, data logging, and material characterization.
• Set up, adjust, and operate complex computer-controlled equipment used in photonic-device manufacturing.
• Analyze, interpret, and respond to measured product data and unexpected process outcomes.
• Provide first-line guidance to manufacturing technicians and coordinate work-area activities.
• Coordinate with Manufacturing Management, Process Engineering, Equipment Engineering, and Facilities teams.
• Complete equipment checklists, basic maintenance activities, team handovers, performance reporting, and workload planning.

Requirements

• At least three years of related experience or a degree or equivalent in an engineering or scientific discipline.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to work independently, remain dependable under pressure, and meet team targets.
• Competent PC user, including Microsoft Office.
• Must be eligible to live and work in the United Kingdom.
• Must be able to attend the Towcester site and work the continental shift pattern.

Nice to have

• Experience in high-technology manufacturing or production environments.
• Experience working in a cleanroom or laboratory environment.
• Experience with computer-controlled semiconductor processing equipment or vacuum systems.
• Knowledge of manufacturing execution systems such as PROMIS, rework procedures, task scheduling, data collection, and SPC.
