Epitaxy Process Shift Engineer (MOCVD)

Location: Towcester, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom. Onsite attendance is essential; the site is rural and not served by public transport. The role follows a continental shift pattern: 2x 7am–7pm, 2x 7pm–7am, 4 days off. Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.

What you will do

• Carry out MOCVD epitaxy manufacturing activities, including tool setup, wet preparation, process adjustment, equipment operation, visual inspection, data logging, and production support.
• Characterize materials and products, record and interpret data, and respond to measured results and out-of-specification events.
• Provide first-line guidance and support to manufacturing technicians and coordinate work-area activities.
• Coordinate with Manufacturing Management, Process Engineering, Equipment Engineering, and Facilities teams on process, tool, and facility interventions.
• Complete equipment checklists and basic maintenance activities, participate in Epitaxy handovers, and support performance reporting and workload organization.
• Work independently after intensive training while meeting team targets and complying with site safety and environmental procedures.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of related experience or a degree/equivalent qualification in an engineering or scientific discipline.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently without supervision, complete all assigned tasks, and perform under pressure.
• Competent PC user, including Microsoft Office.
• Meticulous attention to detail, professional attitude, dependable behavior, excellent attendance, timekeeping, and punctuality.
• Flexible approach to work and customer demand.
• Eligibility to live and work in the UK.
• Ability to work onsite in a cleanroom and use required cleanroom clothing.

Nice to have

• Experience in a high-technology manufacturing or production environment.
• Experience in a cleanroom or laboratory environment.
• Experience with computer-controlled semiconductor processing equipment or vacuum systems.
• Knowledge of manufacturing execution systems such as PROMIS, including rework procedures, task scheduling, data collection, and SPC concepts.
