Senior DevOps Engineer (Cloud)

Location: London, UK or San Sebastián, Spain; hybrid infrastructure with physical on-site systems and flexible working.

What you will do

• Design, provision, and manage highly available AWS cloud infrastructure for heavy compute workloads and high-concurrency applications.
• Build modular, version-controlled infrastructure as code with Terraform and CloudFormation across secure, low-latency, multi-region environments.
• Architect high-performance cloud storage, data synchronisation, backup strategies, and throughput optimization.
• Automate deployment, configuration, scaling, and resource utilization for workload orchestrators, container platforms, and core services.
• Implement Zero Trust security, IAM controls, automated configuration management, and hardened operating system images.
• Resolve complex infrastructure issues, document automated workflows, and mentor junior team members.

Requirements

• Production experience architecting, deploying, and maintaining highly scalable workloads on AWS.
• Deep expertise in Terraform and CloudFormation for modular infrastructure environments.
• Strong knowledge of high-performance and distributed cloud storage, including FSx, EFS, EBS, and NetApp ONTAP.
• Expertise with Enterprise Linux distributions such as RHEL, Rocky Linux, or Ubuntu, including systems-level troubleshooting.
• Professional proficiency in Python or Bash for automation tooling, monitoring scripts, and systems integration.
• Deep understanding of enterprise IAM patterns, including Active Directory and LDAP integration across hybrid environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with production HPC workloads on AWS using AWS ParallelCluster, SOCA, or custom Slurm fleets.
• Experience optimizing cloud costs through spot instances, auto-scaling, and Savings Plans.
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or CloudWatch for infrastructure and application monitoring.
• Experience designing CI/CD pipelines with GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
• AWS Solutions Architect Professional, AWS DevOps Engineer Professional, or AWS Advanced Networking certification.
