TL;DR
CFD Engineer (Hypersonic): Developing advanced computational fluid dynamics analyses, aerodynamic and aerothermal models, and analytical tools for reusable hypersonic vehicles with an accent on high-enthalpy flows, interference effects, and flight-test validation. Focus on building large CFD databases, optimizing trajectories, automating analysis workflows, and integrating numerical, wind-tunnel, and flight-test data into vehicle design.

Location: Mojave, CA, United States; remote, hybrid, and onsite arrangements are available based on candidate preference and business needs. Travel is expected to be less than 5%.

Base salary: Level II $101,079–$146,500 per year; Senior level $120,500–$158,000 per year. Final leveling and compensation depend on location, education, skills, and experience.

Company

hirify.global develops reusable air-launched Talon testbeds and provides operationally realistic Mach 5+ flight testing for hypersonic technology and national security applications.

What you will do

  • Conduct advanced CFD analyses for captive-carry and hypersonic vehicles, including multibody, control-surface, and propulsion–airframe interference effects.
  • Model high-speed, high-enthalpy flows and generate aerodynamic and aerothermal predictions for Mach 5+ vehicles.
  • Develop, manage, and validate large CFD and aerodynamic databases using analytical, numerical, wind-tunnel, and flight-test data.
  • Support trajectory analysis and optimization for current and future vehicles.
  • Analyze wind-tunnel and flight-test data to validate CFD models.
  • Develop CFD automation tools and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on vehicle design, performance analysis, proposals, and technical presentations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of relevant engineering experience for Level II or 5+ years for Senior level, or an equivalent combination of industry experience and applied graduate work.
  • Proficiency in CFD meshing for complex geometries using tools such as Pointwise, ANSA, or Link3D.
  • Strong knowledge of aerodynamics, aerothermal dynamics, and flight mechanics, with proficiency in at least one major CFD solver such as US3D, Fun3D, StarCCM+, or Kestrel.
  • Programming or scripting skills in Python, MATLAB, or a similar language for automation and post-processing.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required.

Nice to have

  • Hypersonic aerodynamic theory and analysis experience, including subsonic, transonic, or hypersonic flows.
  • Experience with multibody interactions, plume or scramjet simulations, aeroheating predictions, overset meshing, or fully structured meshes.
  • Experience managing large CFD databases and using HPC resources.
  • Experience with Tecplot, ParaView, Siemens NX, or aerospace vehicle surface lofting.
  • Active security clearance.

Culture & Benefits

  • 9/80 work schedule.
  • Medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug healthcare coverage.
  • Paid maternity and parental leave.
  • Company 401(k) contribution matching at 50% per contributed dollar, up to $11,500.
  • Tuition reimbursement.
