Staff Frontend Engineer (AI)

Location: Austin, TX; hybrid work

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain core user-facing features in the web application.
• Translate product and design direction into responsive, accessible, and performant interfaces.
• Shape frontend architecture, shared patterns, technical decisions, and component libraries.
• Use Claude Code, Cursor, and related agentic tools for scoping, implementation, testing, and bug triage while owning architecture and quality.
• Own features through implementation, testing, QA, release, monitoring, and production debugging.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering, contribute to reviews and planning, mentor teammates, and improve performance, accessibility, and developer experience.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional frontend or full-stack engineering experience building production web applications.
• Staff- or principal-level individual contributor experience in a collaborative engineering environment.
• Advanced TypeScript, React, HTML, and CSS skills, including CSS Modules and component-scoped styling.
• Experience building AI-powered interfaces with chat, streaming responses, optimistic or incremental rendering, and non-deterministic outputs.
• Experience with React Query, Zustand, Storybook, Chromatic, accessibility tooling, Turborepo or Nx, REST APIs, and frontend testing with Playwright, Vitest, or React Testing Library.
• Experience with CI/CD, GitHub Actions, deployment automation, Git, Linux-based environments, containers, and frontend observability tools such as Datadog RUM.

Nice to have

• Backend, database, API development, Go, Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud platform experience.
• Authentication and identity provider integrations.
• Experience building agent scaffolding with context files, custom commands, skills, MCP integrations, or remote development environments.
• Advanced visualization and interactive rendering experience with D3, Recharts, Nivo, WebGL, Three.js, Babylon.js, or similar tools.
• Background in game development or interactive simulation.
