Applied AI Backend Sr. Software Developer (AI)

Location: Hybrid, with a minimum of 3 days per week in the Ottawa, Canada office

Salary: CAD 105,000–130,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications, with a bonus opportunity tied to company performance.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable backend SaaS features for TrendAI Vision One.
• Use AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot to evaluate architectural options and accelerate development.
• Design robust microservices and event-driven architectures using cloud-native standards.
• Write application code, Infrastructure as Code, unit and integration tests, monitoring, and telemetry.
• Review AI-generated and team code for architectural fit, security vulnerabilities, and system context.
• Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for distributed systems while collaborating with Product Managers, UX designers, and SRE teams.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software development experience focused on backend systems and cloud-native SaaS.
• Proficiency in one or more of Go, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Experience integrating AI tools throughout the software development lifecycle while maintaining code quality and architectural consistency.
• Significant experience with AWS or Azure, microservices, REST APIs, and asynchronous messaging patterns.
• Strong experience with automated CI/CD pipelines, reliability, monitoring, and a “you build it, you run it” approach.
• BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. No sponsorship will be provided for work permit applications or renewals.
